Headstone photos

These are photos from times I have visited different cemeteries looking for information on my ancestors.  There are times that I also took photos of other headstones because they looked interesting.  Click on the photo to load the image in a larger format.

Melchior and Anna (Damm) Sauer

This was taken at the Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine, Iowa on October 9th, 2004.  Melchior and Anna (Damm) Sauer are my Great-Great-Grandparents.  They had 5 children, 3 sons and 2 daughters.  Their son William Sauer was my Great-Grandfather.  He married Elizabeth A. Hechtner and they moved from Iowa to Colorado.

William Wren

This photo was taken at the Mt. Orum Cemetery, Redfield, Kansas.  This headstone is for William Wren my Great-Grandfather.  He is the father of my grandfather Ira P. Wren, and two other daughters.  He moved from Ohio to the Ft. Scott, Kansas area with a lot of other family members.  He died before Ira was 1 year old.  His wife Mary (Smith) Wren remarried to Albert G. McGinley and they moved to Colorado.

William and Elizabeth (Hechtner) Sauer

These are the combined photos of the headstones for William Sauer and Elizabeth (Hechtner) Sauer.  They were taken at the Crown Hill Cemetery, Wheatridge, Colorado.  William and Elizabeth had only one daughter, Louise Kathrine (Sauer) Shissler.

Albert P. and Mary E. (Smith/Wren) McGinley

This photo was taken at the Crown Hill Cemtery, Wheatridge, Colorado.  Albert died in the flue epidemic two days after Mary's daughter Anna E. (Wren) Walters died.

Otto Sauer and family.

This photo was taken at the Fairmount Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.  This is Block 23, Lots 1 and 2, and parts of 3 and 4.  I have the original engineering drawings for the monument in this photo.  Otto and Mary H. (Huesgen) Sauer had 7 children.  Otto M. Sauer Jr. died when he was about 14 years old.  The next child Clare Helen Sauer died when she was about 2 years old.  Two of the other three sons (and one wife) are buried to the right out of the photo.  The other two daughters, Gertrude and Clara are buried next to the monument.

Louis and Elizabeth (Sauer) Mack

This is a photo of the door on Private Room #32, Mausoleum, Fairmount Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.  Louis Mack and his family are buried in this room.  Elizabeth (Sauer) Mack is the daughter of Melchior and Anna (Damm) Sauer.

Kurt and Mattie Frankenstein.

This was one of those photos that I took just becuase it looked interesting.
